This foundation and its reviews have been really catching my eye recently. i have been wanting to try out this foundation for a while now but the thought of having to test the colours out myself really does put me off especially with the dodgy drugstore lighting. True Match by L'Oreal quickly gained a really good response from beauty bloggers and makeup wearers!
The foundations description...
Following research into the skin-tones of women from around the world, the L'Oreal Laboratories have developed a unique palette of 23 skin-true shades in L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation.
The result for L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation is a natural looking, skin-true colour without tide-marks and outstanding coverage without caking.
L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation has a micro-fine, creamy texture that contains 3 light, non-greasy oils. You can build up layers of L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation coverage for a made to measure finish.
I decided to buy this foundation after reading and watching many reviews. I prefer to do my research before purchasing as i like to know what i'm buying and i like to know other peoples opinions. My research mainly revolves around the shade range (yellow toned), the coverage (light/medium to full coverage foundations) as i don't tend to go for light coverage foundations, and then the price. I think this foundation is priced very well with it being £9.99. the most expensive foundation i own is £25 which is my mac studio sculpt foundation which has been my foundation for around a year. I get quite scared to venture out and try new foundations as i'm worried it will either break me out or be the wrong colour for me and therefore be a waste of money. The shades were split into W (warm undertones - yellow, orange), N (neutral undertones - a mixture of yellow and pink) and C (cool undertones - pink) so there's a shade for everyone. It is very confusing at first but you soon become familiar with the shades. If you have dark skin it will be difficult to find a shade as this foundation unfortunately doesn't go too dark and only have 1 or 2 dark shades which is a shame. this is usually the case with drugstore foundations as usually people with fair or dark skin tones struggle to find there perfect shade. I have bought the shade W3 in this foundation which have proven to be such a good match! I never usually have the patience to try all the testers out and test them on my face and neck. there was actually no mirrors at all around me when i popped into boots so it was a bit of a task. so i took a risk and just squeezed some of my mac foundation out on the my hand and then put a small amount of the L'Oreal ones next to it which i thought were of a similar colour. i am the shade NC 20 in mac and i am very proud of myself for matching up these shades as in many reviews i read nobody had mentioned mac comparisons. it wasn't until i got home that i came across more reviews and people of the shade NC 20 had also got W3.
I find that the L'Oreal foundation actually matches my skin so much more as its not quite as yellow as the MAC.
The texture of this foundation is very, very runny and very thin, at first I thought this might cause less coverage then I'd hoped but I quickly learnt that that was not the case at all. The foundation blends into the skin so lovely and gives medium coverage which can be easily built up to fuller coverage. I use a real techniques buffing brush to apply this foundation which evens it out beautifully.
This foundations does dries matte which is new to me as even thought my skin gets oily throughout the day i usually wear radiant foundations. I would generally not recommend this for people with dry skin as it can cause flakiness in dry areas. My T-zone gets very oily throughout the day as i have combination skin so i make sure to powder that throughout the day with my well loved Rimmel stay matte! It lasts for around 6 hours on my skin before it begins to disintegrate which is not bad for a drugstore foundation.
What I love
- blends amazingly
- medium coverage
- good colour range for warm undertones
- not overpriced
- it has a pump
I hope this review was helpful to any of you who are looking for a new drugstore foundation
Katie ♥
